Opelika Songwriters Festival

Privacy Policy

Last updated September 23, 2026

This policy explains what information the Opelika Songwriters Festival website (opelikasongwritersfestival.com) collects and how it is used. The festival is produced by The Sound Wall and Russell Carter Artist Management, and net proceeds benefit The Sound Wall Music Initiative, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit.

What we collect

You can use this site without creating an account or giving us your name. We collect anonymous usage information: which pages are viewed, which buttons are clicked (for example “Get Tickets”), the referring website, and general device and browser details.

If you email us using a link on this site, we receive whatever you choose to include in that email and use it only to reply.

If you sign up for festival updates, we collect your email address and add it to our mailing list, which is managed with Mailchimp. We use it only to send festival news, and every email has an unsubscribe link. We never sell or share your address.

Analytics and cookies

We use PostHog to understand how the site is used. It runs in cookieless mode: it does not set cookies or store anything on your device, and it does not identify you personally. The only thing this site saves in your browser is a note that you have closed the updates sign-up box, so it doesn’t keep reappearing. Visits are counted with an anonymous, privacy-preserving hash rather than any identifier stored on your device. We do not record sessions or keystrokes, and we do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

Third-party services

Some links take you to services run by other companies, each with its own privacy policy. Information you give them is governed by their policies, not this one:

  • Ticket purchases, through the festival’s ticketing provider
  • Patron donations, through GivingFuel
  • Volunteer sign-up, through Better Impact
  • Vendor applications, through Google Forms
  • The OSF app, through the Apple App Store

How we use information

We use the information above to run and improve the site and the festival: to see which pages are useful, which artists people are interested in, and whether visitors can find tickets. We do not sell, rent, or share personal information for advertising.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Student Showcase entries are made through a separate entry process, not this website.

Changes and contact

We may update this policy and will change the date above when we do. Questions can go to info@theswmi.org.
