Pamela Bedwell

When one begins writing at 59 years of age, there are no preconceived expectations nor musical boundaries. The artist is free to tell the story as they hear it. Pamela’s lyrics are seasoned with a dash of ‘sassistude’ and her song arrangements an amalgam of musical genres, some easily recognizable and a few she made up.
Pamela, aka Pammie Kakes, grew up in North Carolina in a family of Southern, generational short-story tellers. From a funeral director, a Pentecostal preacher, textile factory workers, a seamstress, a rum runner, and nurses, she learned to weave words into an almost truthful narrative and sing in shape note harmony. A little of that heritage is in each of her songs..
Since beginning her songwriting journey, Pamela’s songs have aired on the podcasts Bree Noble’s Women of Worth, The Hootenanny Café and Big Weekly Blend. She has performed at the Opelika Songwriter’s Festival, Macon Georgia’s Bragg Jam, Joey Stuckey Alive Day Concerts and at the New Orlean’s Folk Alliance International Annual Conference. Several of her songs are in the libraries of noted music supervisors. She enjoys collaborative work and has had the pleasure of co-writing and releasing music with artists in the US, the UK, Canada and Guatemala.
