Martha’s Trouble
Martha’s Trouble is a folk-rock duo built around thoughtful songwriting, close harmony, and emotionally grounded storytelling. Formed by Rob and Jen Slocumb, the band’s music blends acoustic textures with melodic strength—songs rooted in love, faith, family, and the quiet weight of lived experience.
Beyond their work as performers, Rob and Jen are the founders of the Opelika Songwriters Festival, The Sound Wall, and The Sound Wall Music Initiative, organizations created to support songwriters, present intimate listening experiences, and strengthen the cultural life of the Auburn–Opelika community. Their dual roles as artists and presenters give them a deep respect for the craft of songwriting and the importance of creating spaces where songs can be heard as they were intended.
Whether on stage as Martha’s Trouble or behind the scenes building platforms for other artists, their work is guided by the same values: clarity, intention, and a belief that well-written songs—shared in the right setting—still matter.
