
Dom Flemmons

Dom Flemons, known as The American Songster, is a GRAMMY Award–winning musician, scholar, and historian whose work spans more than a century of American roots music. His repertoire draws from country, folk, blues, bluegrass, and Americana, presented with deep historical knowledge and masterful musicianship.
Flemons is a multi-instrumentalist and recognized authority on traditional American music, with expertise across banjo, guitar, harmonica, jug, fife, rhythm bones, and more. He is the co-founder of the Carolina Chocolate Drops and the founder of American Songster Productions, and he serves as the creator and host of the American Songster Radio Show on WSM in Nashville.
In addition to his performance career, Flemons is a respected cultural voice—serving on the boards of Folk Alliance International, Music Maker Relief Foundation, and the Steve Martin Banjo Prize, and as a Governor for the Recording Academy’s Washington, D.C. chapter. Equal parts performer, educator, and preservationist, Dom Flemons brings American music’s past into sharp, living focus.
